Intentionally get lost, It makes you present

I love challenging myself when I'm in a new place. The first few days, I explore a city, get acquainted with the roads, and look for local businesses and museums I might find interesting. Anything I can get comfortable with to make a mental map of my mind and landmarks so I don't have to use my Google Maps as much as possible is ideal. For me, seeing a place through the eyes of those who grew up and live there makes it all the more beautiful.

Having lived in several countries and 2 states deeply impacted my understanding of gratitude, being willing to listen and grow, be outside your comfort zone, and make a home wherever you are, and that understanding is a learned ability that is extended with compassion when there is a chasm of differences between people. Getting lost is a reminder to me to be present where I am and begin noticing.
